The Construction Team at Huyton House Close in Liverpool have constructed a successful partnership with local vocational training provider HCTS. Delivering live 'construction site' based learning opportunities for students studying throughout the Knowsley and Merseyside area.
HCTS run a number of classes for students studying vocational construction based training. Much of the studying involves classroom learning in to how a construction site operates, so to support the classroom theory the Cruden team have offered the students the opportunity to observe the live site throughout various stages of construction.
Site Manager Gareth Disley leads the group along with their lecturer for a tour of the site explaining the various activities and operations being undertaken.
After the first site visit it became apparent that this could be converted to a project for the students to support in their classroom learning.
The group now visit Huyton House Close site once every four weeks to observe the advancement in construction on the site giving them an insight into construction from the commencement to completion of a project.
Following the first visit Cruden were delighted to receive a letter of thanks for Colette Potts, Training Manager for HCTS commenting 'All the students enjoyed the site visit, I believe they have gained a valuable insight into the working of a real construction site. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to visit your Huyton House Close site'.
