The Cruden volunteers team, part of our Escalate in the Community scheme, were delighted to spend another day with the children, teachers, assistants and parents of Lancasterian SEN School to work together to transform another under used are in to a vibrant inviting space for the children to enjoy.

As a partners contractor on the Manchester City Council Framework One, Cruden have been working closely with the school to deliver a £2.6m phased hand over refurbishment programme. With an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy at the school, Cruden have been keen to gather our volunteers to make a real difference to the outside spaces and gardens for the children to enjoy all year round.

In January 2011 a thirty strong team tackled the unused courtyards at the school and following that success the team were keen to get involved and a little more creative.

On Tuesday 17th May another set of eager Cruden volunteers working with the children to create a wide range of interesting crafts to hang on mobiles, wind chimes and in planters. The team helped the children plant lots of tubs, pots, hanging baskets and even introduced some chillies and tomatoes into the greenhouse.

Judging from the final results and the feedback from the children, volunteers, parents and teachers the event was a total success and clearly enjoyed by all.
