Cruden volunteers were delighted to be a part of the street party held for residents who have just moved into the first council homes to be built in Salford for 25 years.
Salford City Council threw a street party on Linneyshaw Close to mark the completion of the 101 new homes. Families from the final street were all moved in by Friday 16th September and the street party was the perfect opportunity to meet their new neighbors. The Mayor of Salford also attended to formally open the street, meet residents and see their new homes.
Over 25 Cruden volunteers were out in force at the party to welcome the new residents. The Escalate in the Community team were bringing a bit of summer to the street by donating a range of pots and planters for residents gardens.
The properties have been delivered through Salford City Council's existing partnership with Urban Vision, Cruden Construction Ltd and G&J Seddon Ltd. The homes, which are in Walkden, Weaste and Seedley, Little Hulton, Winton and Irwell Riverside, will be managed by the council's housing provider, Salix Homes.
The children from Chetham's School of Music performed for guests, residents and Cruden volunteers before the party got started.
Councillor Peter Connor, lead member for housing said: "It's great to see this project finished and people living in their new homes. The street party is a great way for the community to get to know each other and celebrate the first council homes to be built in Salford for a quarter of a century."
