Constructed for Salford City Council under the council’s “Rethinking Construction” Frameworks in collaboration with Urban Vision Partnership, Primrose Hill Primary School is 21st century, first class facility for young people located in the heart of Ordsall, Salford – another key step in the regeneration of the area and a further significant school completion for Cruden Construction.

The £6.5million investment at Primrose Hill brings together the pupils of two schools which closed in July 2007 – St Clement’s CE and Radclyffe Schools. The new school will be home to 300 pupils whilst 83 children will also get a superb start at a new Children’s Centre and nursery built on the site.

The state of the art school houses an array of facilities designed to provide the very best environment for safe, enjoyable and stimulating learning opportunity, day to day operation and future maintenance. These include 9 classrooms, general purpose rooms, school hall/dining hall, library, special needs areas, parent/teacher areas, staff rooms, internet café, kitchens, toilets, store and plant rooms. Externally football/sports pitches compliment the children’s play areas.

Briefly, construction comprised vibro compaction, ground beams, partial steel and traditional superstructures incorporating reinforced concrete division walls with a Corus standing seam curved roof across 5 levels. Aluminium windows and a variety of elevational treatments give the school a bright modern aesthetic. The school is equipped with the very latest ICT systems, perimeter and entrance security systems and grey water recycling capability.
