An innovative assessment centre providing community-based mental health and treatment facilities.
Cruden Construction have over thirty five years' experience constructing public services buildings -and the successful completion of St Johns Community Health Improvement Centre both extends and enhances this experience.
With the provision of administrative, clinical and residential services facilities, the centre delivers mental health assessment and treatment. The administrative function is housed within a two storey section and presents a striking modern outlook with its curved features and glazed atrium. In addition, the centre has a large reception and waiting room, consulting facilities, therapy rooms, residential bedrooms and full staff facilities.
Construction comprised a structural steel frame sited on strip foundations, with reinforced in-situ concrete floors, precast concrete staircase and metal deck Samafil curved roof finish to the two storey section. A trussed rafter roof structure - insulated and fire barriered - covered in Marley Modern concrete roof tiles completed the single storey element.
The centre was clad in a mixture of brick/block cavity walls with both Architectural Faced Masonry block and Sto rendering finish. Aluminium windows and curtain walling were utilised together with either aluminium or steel external doors.
Finishes included emulsioned and vinyl walls, suspended ceilings, ceramic tiled walls and floor coverings. Full mechanical and electrical services were installed, including alarm systems and telecommunications.
The project won 'Built-in Quality Awards' from both Halton Borough Council and Cheshire County Council -and show how Cruden can successfully deliver public buildings of quality and character.
