"Cruden has been a partner contractor for over 6 years with a track record of delivering projects on time and to budget. They have worked cooperatively with our development teams and consultants to successfully deliver a number of high quality Extra Care developments for Housing 21"

Andrew Apps, Head of Development, Housing 21

Willow Bank Extra Care scheme is our fifth scheme undertaken for Housing 21 in the North West. The £7.5 million Willow Bank scheme of 70 homes welcomed its first residents in October 2010 and is the first of two new Housing 21 developments in Wirral, designed to enable older people to live independently in their own homes.

Built on the site of the former Manor Trust building, Willow Bank consists of 43 two bedroom apartments, eight one bedroom apartments and 19 two bedroom bungalows for rent and shared ownership. Communal on-site facilities include a lounge, restaurant, shop, hairdressing salon, activity room, assisted bathroom and landscaped gardens.

The scheme is a modern community in Wirral, which offers older people with personal care needs the chance to live as independently as possible in dignity, safety and comfort.

Tenants live independently in specially adapted apartments with trained staff on hand 24 hours a day to meet any personal care needs.

Each apartment is equipped with an en-suite bathroom with walk in showers, a fully fitted kitchen including fridge/freezer, oven and hob, a door entry system with intercom, emergency pull cords in all rooms and a wheel chair access throughout. High levels of insulation offer complete warmth and comfort.

The design is based on progressive privacy, so access to the apartments is secured for tenants. The interior furnishings reflect the needs of older people and or disabled people, particularly in the use of colour to assist those with visual or orientation issues and level access throughout.

The partnering contract commenced in April 2009 and was handed over on time and on budget to a high quality standard in October 2010.
